FAQs

Drift works directly with your primary veterinarian to determine the best care options for your pet. If your vet has already made a diagnosis and recommended specialty surgery for your pet, have them give us a call to determine if we can provide that surgery for you in the comfort of your home clinic. If your pet has not yet had a diagnosis and recommendation from your primary veterinarian, call your vet to set up an appointment for an examination. If they confirm the diagnosis and recommendation for surgery you can then request that they call Drift to review the case and schedule surgery if appropriate.

One of the goals of Drift Veterinary Surgery Services is to provide specialty surgery care at a more affordable cost to pet owners. We are able to do this because our overhead costs are less than large referral hospitals that provide 24 hour care. The cost for your pet’s surgery includes a surgery fee for Drift’s services along with the cost of diagnostics, medications, and anesthesia provided by your primary veterinarian. After your pet receives a diagnosis from your primary veterinarian and their case has been discussed with Drift to confirm we can provide the appropriate care, your vet will present you with an estimate for the total cost of services.

Our Services page gives examples of surgeries commonly performed by Drift but is not a complete list. Dr. Quandt is a board certified surgeon and can confidently perform most surgeries performed in large referral hospitals. Each patient is a unique case and Dr. Quandt will discuss the details of your pet’s ailment with their primary veterinarian to determine the best options for care. In some cases we may decide that Drift’s services are not in your pet’s best interest and offer alternative options for treatment.

Follow-up care will be performed with your pet’s primary veterinarian. We will make recommendations regarding follow-up care and love to hear updates on cases. We are always available for non-urgent questions or concerns during your pet’s recovery. If you feel your pet is having an after hours emergency you should seek immediate medical attention from a 24 hour facility.
